Material Setup

This material can be divided into 5 parts.

  1. Spheremask – This will spawn an imaginary sphere at player location. I have animated its radius to show effect growing out.

2. Outlines РOutlines are generated using sample scene depth and using this node 4 times I was able to create top, bottom, left and right  outlines.

3. Rim Color – This is added to show the start of the sphere mask. It adds propagation feeling in the effect.

4. There’s an optional texture which can be overlayed on top of the world using world aligned texture node.

5. Main scene i.e. post process input 0 which then used to reveal the original scene outside the sphere.
